Why it exists
One incident ends a school. Not because the owner was careless, but because nothing was written down, nobody was trained, and no one checked. Safe Academy 360 puts training, written standards, and registration screening behind the academy so the answer to "what were you doing about it" already exists.
Martial arts academies put adults and children on the same mat, in the same changing rooms, under coaches who are rarely screened and rarely trained in recognizing abuse. Most owners know this and have no practical way to address it. Safe Academy 360 is that way.
Who operates it
Safe Academy 360 is operated by Roll Payments LLC of Murrieta, California. Roll Payments builds software and payment services for martial arts academies, which is how it came to see the gap this program fills. The program runs on the same platform academies already use for registration, which is why screening can happen inside the signup a student already completes.
Independent third party verifier
Safe Academy 360 is an independent third party verifier. Two words in that phrase carry weight, so here is what each means.
Independent means independent of the academy. The academy does not certify itself, and Safe Academy 360 is not owned by any academy, affiliation, or sanctioning body. Roll Payments is paid by every academy it certifies and provides payment services to many of them. That relationship is stated here so no one has to discover it.
Verifier means Safe Academy 360 verifies that an academy has met the program's requirements: that each coach was screened and completed the trainings, that each certificate is on file and current, and that the academy adopted its written standards. It does not verify people. No one is described as verified, cleared, or safe, because that is not something a screen or a certificate can establish.
What it is not
This is not a government program, not a licensing body, and not a guarantee. Registry and public records data is incomplete, matching is imperfect, and no screening catches everyone. What Safe Academy 360 gives an academy is screened and trained coaches, written standards, a check on every new registration, and a record of all three.
Safe Academy 360 is not affiliated with or endorsed by the U.S. Center for SafeSport, any government agency, any registry operator, any sanctioning body, or any insurer. Coaches complete SafeSport training directly with the Center.
About the name
The 360 refers to protecting the academy from several directions at once: the people who teach, the standards they teach under, and the people who walk in the door. The emblem reads Safe Academy Initiative, the name the program began under.
